REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday,June 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Mary Wysong, Paul Sloffer, and Ron Felger. John Hilger and Kent Somers were absent. Also Present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Mary Wysong called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the June 10, 2013 regular meeting as presented by Paul Slofer; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

  1. PERMISSION TO POST/HIRERequested permission to post/hire the following:

Carroll High Secretary -Athletics additional 2 weeks/year (from 38 to 40 weeks/year); Perry Hill Instructional Assistant Lunch/Recess additional .25 hour/day; Certified -Permanent Substitutes as follows: Middle School/High School - 1 English/Reading,1 Math/Science, 1 Social Studies/Reading, 1 Secondary Licensed Teacher Preferably in one of the related arts or world languages. Elementary School - 2General Elementary. Certified permanent substitutes will be paid the same rate as current substitutes. Classified - Permanent Substitutes as follows:Custodial Assistants - 4 - 3.5 days/for 8 hours/day (not to exceed 28 hours total/week), Instructional Assistants - 6 - 4 days for 7 hours/day (not to exceed 28 hours total/week), Food Service Assistants 2 - 4 days for 6 hours/day(not to exceed 24 hours total/week). Classified permanent substitutes will not be eligible for employee benefits and will be paid the same as current substitutes within the particular employee classification.

Board Comments: Mr. Himsel announced that Carroll High School received a commendation from the Indiana Department of Education for significant achievement in Advanced Placement Student Access and Success with 29.4% of 2012 graduates passing at least one AP exam during high school.
